Toothache never picks a convenient moment. Whether you're in Caerphilly town, Llanbradach or out along the A469, if you're dealing with swelling, a broken tooth or another dental emergency, our team will do everything possible to get you out of pain quickly.
We think an emergency appointment works best when it's kept simple, so ours is built around a single tooth and a single problem for one flat fee. £150 buys you a thorough assessment, whatever X-rays are needed, and enough treatment on the day to take the pain away. What that treatment actually looks like depends on what's wrong — it might mean taking the tooth out, popping in a temporary filling, opening up a root canal, or writing you a course of antibiotics if that's clinically the right call. Whatever the cause, the first job is always to get you out of pain and back to normal.
We start by hearing about your symptoms, then examine the tooth in question to work out what's causing the pain.
If an X-ray is needed to diagnose the problem, we'll take it during your appointment at no additional charge.
You'll receive whatever treatment your emergency calls for — that could be an extraction, a temporary filling, the start of root canal treatment, or another suitable procedure.
Once the emergency itself has been dealt with, if further treatment is needed we'll talk you through the options and give you a written plan.

Nobody likes a surprise bill, us included — every plan is set out in writing up front, so there's nothing unexpected waiting for you at reception.
Same appointment, same inclusions — the higher fee simply covers out-of-hours opening.
Should you need further treatment once the emergency is under control, we'll set out every option and cost before going ahead.

The £150 covers whatever's needed to diagnose and treat a single tooth and problem — your assessment, any X-rays required, and immediate treatment where it's appropriate.
Weekend and bank holiday emergency appointments are £250. Everything included stays the same — assessment, any X-rays and treatment for one tooth — the difference simply reflects opening out of hours.
Your treatment will depend on the diagnosis — perhaps an extraction, a temporary filling, the start of root canal treatment, or antibiotics if that's what's indicated. Getting you comfortable quickly is always our first concern.
Occasionally. Plenty of emergencies are sorted in one visit, but some teeth go on to need further work such as a permanent filling, a crown, or finishing off root canal treatment. We'll make this clear before you leave the surgery.
Wherever we have space, we'll do everything we can to see you the same day. If you're in pain, it's best to ring us as early as you can.
No — X-rays taken as part of your emergency assessment are already covered by the £150 fee.
The emergency appointment is built around one tooth and one problem. If more than one tooth needs attention, we'll talk through the best way to manage it and explain any extra cost before starting.
