Coming from the college or the leisure centre on the eastern side, allow an extra couple of minutes to work through to the main road, particularly during the college's start and finish times when the roads around there get genuinely busy. Once you're clear of Hengoed and onto the open stretch towards Llanbradach, the road is fast and there's rarely any further hold-up before the turning.

By train

Ystrad Mynach station and Llanbradach station both sit on the Rhymney Valley line, with Hengoed in between — it's a short hop by train if you'd rather not drive, followed by a short walk down into the village from Llanbradach station.

Trains on this stretch run fairly regularly through the day, which makes the journey a genuine option even if you're coming straight from work rather than from home — a number of our Ystrad Mynach patients specifically book late-afternoon appointments they can reach by train on the way back from a shift, rather than adding the drive on top of an already long day.
